The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority — commonly known as the VTA — is the primary public transportation provider for Santa Clara County, home to the Silicon Valley. The VTA provides a variety of transit options designed for the growing communities of Santa Clara County, including buses, light rail, shuttle vans, and paratransit. It also provides extensive connections to other transit agencies that connect the county with the rest of the Bay Area, Santa Cruz, and the Monterey Bay Region.

Regular Buses

VTA buses operate community, local, rapid, limited-stop, and express routes, connecting communities in the county. In addition, the VTA operates one BRT line, Line 522, that operates along El Camino Real between Palo Alto and east San Jose.
