The Muni Metro is a light rail network in San Francisco connecting Downtown with various communities in the city, primarily concentrated in the southwestern neighborhoods such as the Sunset, Ocean View, and Ingleside. It currently has six lines, named as letters (J, K, L, M, N, and T), and it primarily uses Italian-made Breda light rail streetcars in its network. The Metro also operates through the longest — and one of the oldest — light rail tunnels in the world, the Twin Peaks Tunnel, connecting the Castro, Forest Hill, and West Portal neighborhoods with the rest of the network.

Siemens LRV4 Light Rail Train
Introduced in November 2017, this is the next-generation light rail train that will replace the current Breda LRVs. Built in Sacramento, these have all longitudinal seating, which translates to more standee space. These also have electronic automated visual annunciators where one can easily track where the train is along the line, as well as announcing each and every stop made and shows transfers to other services. And these trains are sleeker to ride as these have no more stop strings (replaced by stop buttons) and use LED lights to power the train interior and exterior.
