As I listened to the song, I was stunned at how the pair worked the song very well, and Ell and Nikki’s voices have kept me thinking about one of my New Year’s resolutions: to finally be with the person I really want to be for the rest of my life. The song made me touched because it shows a loving relationship between a young man and a young lady, and its simple and original lyrics help me understand the nature of love in its raw form. The song has become one of my most favorite tunes (although it’s too early to call), and the song reminds me of the originality of Westlife in terms of songwriting and singing: for the fourteen years of their existence, they have created 128 original songs, many of which became number 1s in the United Kingdom and Ireland, and their songs kept me hooked for the past 14 years. Although they’ve broken up last year, Shane Filan, Westlife’s lead singer, will keep making music on his own, and I will tune in to him as he pursues a solo career.
So, here’s the song that I’ve been talking about: Ell and Nikki, with Running Scared. With Azerbaijan being the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Germany, the country will host this year’s contest in Baku, something to look forward to for me.
