Happy New Decade 2010!

Instead of me saying Happy New Year, why not say Happy New Decade — because 2010 is a brand new decade to start with! And why not start the New Decade (or New Year, as most will greet) without looking back at some of my more memorable events, videos, and thoughts, plus my top 5 dreams for the New Year 2010.

2009 has been the year that I got accepted to three universities so that I can pursue my chosen career, Urban Studies, but, as I tried to go to UC Berkeley to pursue my major, I was stunned at the bill I would have to pay if I continue my track. Now, as I get accepted to San Francisco State University for a second time to pursue Urban Studies, I feel that I want to continue my dream of really bringing a huge metro transportation reform, possibly for my hometown of Metro Manila, and with SimCity 4 being one of my keys to my dream, it has drawn me into continuing my chosen path of designing and bringing eco-friendly cities to life.

The year has also brought me into understanding the deeper mysteries and thoughts about my real mental condition, which is Aspergers Syndrome, and it has allowed me even further to develop my life into whatever I wanted to be, even with the hardships in the economy and employment sectors, my family being quite hit with lower incomes and my uncle having little job choices to contend with. Now, as I discover that Aspergers is a lifetime disease, I just take every day as a great day wherein I choose my path toward being who I am as a person of great character, determine my growth as an adult, and living my life to the fullest possible, with my family supporting my present and future endeavors.

This year has also kept me waiting on the return of Westlife because I haven’t gotten any word from them regarding any new album releases, and now, I am sharing their latest single, What About Now, a popular cover from Daughtry, from their latest album, entitled Where We Are.

Another act that I really love watching over and over again comes from (reputably) the best techno DJ in the world, Paul van Dyk, with one of his newest singles from his latest album, entitled Volume, called For An Angel (2009 remix).

One other video that I have been following this year was of Maksim, in which he has released his latest album, entitled Electrik. Here’s one of his music videos from the album, entitled The Gypsy Maid.

The year has also been with some controversy, especially from my home country, the Philippines. The best and worst, in my opinion, for 2009, in terms of the Philippines include:

BEST STORIES:

- Charice rising into superstar model

- A Filipino winning the CNN Hero of the Year 2009

- Manny Pacquiao defeats Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto

WORST STORIES:

- Maguindanao Massacre kills 57 people

- Four massive storms hit Luzon, Metro Manila

- Two ship collisions mar Christmas festivities

My thoughts for 2010? Well, here’s some of my dreams for the next year:

- I wish I want to have a great romantic life. 2009 was a quite difficult year to spend time with someone because I was busy transitioning from one school to another, and I want to end the dry spell of being alone… :)

- I wish for a peaceful and clean May 2010 Elections in the Philippines, and hopefully, those who will get voted for government positions will fulfill the people’s wishes of lessening poverty and corruption and replacing them with improvements in government relations and development through comprehensive and useful programs that would benefit the Filipino society as a whole.

- I wish for a great and prosperous 2010, with an abundance of joy and happiness through education, volunteering, and social skills development. I know that having Aspergers may be a bad thing, since it is a lifetime disease, but, I am doing my best to take my mental weakness into a level that I can be a mature person.

I wish everyone a safe, joyous, and happy New Year, and may God bless you and your family.
